Psychotherapist
CA
Kere has been working in the mental health field for over 15 years and has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2016. She is passionate about health and enjoys spending her free time teaching fitness and dance classes. Originally from Virginia, Kere was frustrated by the disconnect she saw between physical and mental health. She moved to California with the dream of becoming a therapist and helping individuals through a more holistic approach to mental health. Kere earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Miami, FL, and completed her master's in Clinical Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. During graduate school, she focused her clinical research on the study of mental health as it relates to physical health through psycho-immunology. She also began studying dance movement therapy, which led her to international work in Ghana, Africa, where she engaged in HIV prevention and outreach through cultural dance with the Sankofa Center. Her passion for helping others led her to work in community mental health and substance abuse treatment. This experience has allowed her to hone her clinical expertise regarding the mind-body connection and gain a deeper understanding of the impact trauma has on mental health and behavior. Kere values holistic treatment, approaching clients through a mind-body informed perspective. In addition to working as a private practice therapist, Kere is the Clinical Director of an outpatient mental health program. She has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and movement therapy. Kere is skilled in working with individuals dealing with trauma, depression, substance abuse, anxiety, relationship issues, and major life stressors.
