What should a new client know about working with you?
My name is Kay and I am part of a private practice named Unpacked. Myself and a few other clinicians are here on ZocDoc. If you choose to book with me through ZocDoc, all communication will come from "Unpacked Group" through email where you can access all of your information and appointment requests. We will send information for logging into your portal and how to proceed with continuing with appointments.
My clinical approach: I like to take the first few sessions to get to know my clients and build a relationship that has trust and safety at the center. I am open with my clients about the therapeutic process and answer questions that they may have involving the direction of their care. I take time to gather details to build a comprehensive conceptualization of each person and their unique traits. As we work together toward goals that the client chooses, we discover skills that will produce lasting change. I value when my clients are motivated and committed to the process by being prepared for each session.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I usually begin each session with a check in regarding the previous week or any "homework" we decided during the previous session. I often let my clients choose the direction of their session, but may have a plan in place for how the time in spent. I typically end the session with questions or feedback, where homework or practice can also be discussed. Therapy is not linear and often takes dynamic turns, so I am committed to being flexible and open with my clients.
