Getting to know Kimberly Cantonwine
Kimberly Cantonwine is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who graduated from Western Seminary with a Master's in Counseling in 2013. Kim's focus has been on bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety, with experience in both residential and hospital settings treating psychosis.
Kim believes that developing a proper assessment to identify the client's needs is necessary to determine the most effective approach. Usually, it begins with CBT to identify thinking challenges and patterns of thought that have developed. DBT is often used to help manage the distress that arises during the therapy process. Motivational Interviewing can be added to assist the client as they move through the process of change. Kim will incorporate other theories if it benefits the client.
In her spare time, Kim enjoys hiking, walking, and working out. She also volunteers with the homeless and attends concerts.
