“Kim McGarvey is a wonderful therapist; she truly has been a help to me with several issues (boundary setting in particular). I have had therapy many times throughout my lifetime (something that keeps us healthy and balanced through life) and feel she's a great active listener, assisting with tools (online literature etc...) allowing me to participate in my healing process at my own pace. I would highly recommend Kim to others.”

Getting to know Kimberly McGarvey

With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT in CA), I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem, stress, trauma, and PTSD. I hold a Master's in Counseling from San Francisco State University. I have a warm, compassionate, culturally sensitive, genuine style and provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment to grow and heal. I work from a collaborative, holistic, strength-based approach, believing that growth and positive change are possible. I use an integrative approach with an emphasis on Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-Based, and Mindfulness-based techniques. My goal is to guide and support you through the therapeutic process on your journey toward, in the words of Rachel Naomi Remen, "...becoming who you are." I aim to help you let go of expectations and beliefs that no longer serve you so that you can grow into your most authentic self.

Kim was very understanding. Felt very comfortable talking to her and she even followed up with an email to make sure I was on the right track. I really enjoy talking to her and felt that there’s someone here for me
