What should a new client know about working with you?

My clients describe me as empowering, empathetic, and honest. I enjoy working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, interpersonal conflict and those who struggle with emotional dysregulation. I utilize DBT/CBT interventions, somatic interventions by incorporating mind and body awareness and trauma informed approach to session. I’ve grown to be passionate in working with individuals who struggle with cultural issues including generational trauma, imposter syndrome, first-generation stressors, and self-esteem issues that contribute to lack of self-advocacy and confidence. I view therapy as a collaborative process where the patient is the expert in their own life. My mission is to support you in your journey of growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Prior to our first appointment there will be documents sent to you to fill out via our client portal. We'll take care of checking on your insurance benefits so that the process of billing is smooth and taken care of by the time we meet for the first time. Please be sure to check your text messages and email often as we may need additional information after you book with us here on ZocDoc. The initial phase of therapy will be spent getting to know each other. I will explore what brings you to therapy, along with your life experiences, your strengths, and your values. This is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions. If it's a good fit we will then develop therapy goals to ensure our time together is what YOU wish to achieve from therapy. Throughout sessions, I will check in with you about these goals to ensure we are moving in a direction that feels comfortable, making adjustments as needed. Your goals will become my goals. Part of my role is to learn how you work best. You may prefer structured sessions or want your sessions to be more free-flowing. You may crave homework between sessions or you couldn't imagine wanting that. What a typical session looks like really depends on your unique needs and goals.
