Krista Sabados, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #163813) based in Huntington Beach, California, providing telehealth therapy to adults throughout California. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, trauma, substance use or early recovery, or relationship challenges. Some are feeling overwhelmed by patterns they can't seem to break. Others are working through painful experiences that continue to shape their lives and relationships. Whether they've been in therapy before or are seeking support for the first time, they're looking for meaningful, lasting change. My style is warm, honest, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I believe therapy should be both compassionate and direct, helping clients better understand themselves while building the skills and confidence to create lasting change.

Getting to know Krista Sabados

What should a new client know about working with you?

My clinical background includes five years of experience across addiction treatment, community mental health, and private practice. Working in substance use treatment reinforced what I continue to see in my work today: anxiety, trauma, and relationship struggles are often at the root of the behaviors people are trying to change, not separate from them. My approach is integrative and tailored to each client's needs. I draw from attachment-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and self-compassion practices to help clients develop practical skills while addressing the underlying patterns that keep them stuck. For couples and relationship work, I incorporate the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also integrate somatic approaches, recognizing that anxiety, trauma, and cravings are experienced not only through our thoughts, but also through our nervous systems and bodies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy is most effective when it feels like a collaborative process. We begin by getting to know one another and building a strong therapeutic relationship, because feeling understood and supported creates the foundation for meaningful change. Early in our work together, we'll explore what brings you to therapy and develop clear, personalized goals. We'll also take time to understand your experiences, strengths, relationships, and the factors that have shaped your life. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs, values, beliefs, culture, and goals. As therapy progresses, we'll regularly check in on what's working, what's not, and whether our approach continues to feel aligned with what you need. My role is to provide guidance, evidence-based tools, and compassionate support while respecting that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we'll work toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels both productive and sustainable.
