Getting to know Kristin Marshall
“Each of us is a story, waiting for a devoted reader who will take us off the shelf and embrace all our plot twists.” I believe each client is the expert in their own story, and I strive to provide a warm and non-judgmental space where they feel safe to explore those chapters as they are ready. I work collaboratively with each client to identify realistic and attainable treatment goals they can implement in their daily life to foster healing, growth, and reclaiming control.
I employ a holistic approach to mental health, helping clients see themselves as whole persons rather than just their diagnosis. I am open to natural treatments that help clients understand the connections between their nutrition, sleep routines, exercise, and internal self-care. My approach is tailored to each individual’s needs, most often using techniques from CBT, Mindfulness, DBT, solution-focused, and client-centered therapy. I enjoy incorporating artistic and musical elements into therapy sessions to explore thoughts and feelings in unique ways. I also encourage parental involvement in their child’s therapy to provide support, education, and progress toward goals.
I provide treatment for a variety of concerns and especially enjoy working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use, life transitions for adolescents and adults, as well as women facing infertility issues due to personal experience.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s in Community Counseling from Saint Xavier University. Prior to joining LifeStance, I worked in diverse settings including DCFS, a methadone clinic providing therapy for dual diagnosis, and outreach projects helping independent living adults gain knowledge about community resources.
