Kristin Roberts, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, I'm Kristin Roberts, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Northern California. I hold a Master's in Psychology from California Southern University. I work with individual adults, couples, families, and minors (ages 14-17). I specialize in treating trauma using EMDR and brainspotting. I'm also IFS-informed and use that modality to help heal clients' inner adult and child parts of self. I treat anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief, and relationship distress in friendships, family dynamics, and couples. My approach is client-centered, focusing on attuning to what each client needs and empathizing with the difficulties and pain they have experienced. My focus is on helping clients understand their feelings and their place in the world-whether in their job, marriage, friendships, or family of origin. Emotions can be complex, so I offer psychoeducation and tools to regulate emotions and develop effective behaviors, which often forms the core of therapy based on clients' requests. In my therapy room, you can expect a tone of respect, attentive listening, curiosity, empathy, some humor, and lots of validation. My journey to mental healthcare began with a lifelong curiosity about why people do what they do and a passion for self-help reading. This work has been part of my personal journey, and I consider it a privilege to be in the therapeutic room with clients. When setting goals, I ask clients what they need because they usually know what they want and need. Goals are set collaboratively and often reevaluated as therapy progresses. In our first session, we discuss and sign consent forms to ensure clarity about what therapy looks like for you. Before the initial session, I send a new client application, which we review together to help me get to know you better.
