Getting to know Kristina Chong
Kristina Chong is a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Virginia Board of Counseling who specializes in perinatal mental health for both birthing and non-birthing parents. Whether you are starting your TTC journey, are in the midst of pregnancy, are navigating post-partum, walking through infertility, feeling overwhelmed by a loss, or are struggling with feelings around parenting, there is space for you.
Kristina originates from Western Canada and graduated from Yorkville University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2019. Kristina has taken multiple training courses with a focus on perinatal mental health over the years, with her most recently completing training in both the Perinatal Mood Disorders Components of Care course and the Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy Training course by Postpartum Support International in 2025. Kristina is actively pursuing further training and education in order to continue to provide her Client’s with the best possible care.
In sessions Kristina utilizes a humanistic approach with Gestalt therapy with a dash of homework through various methods including cognitive-behavioral worksheets, grounding exercises, mindfulness, and more. Kristina believes that with a little reflection each individual can create their own helpful goals that will promote growth and change throughout the week.
Kristina knows that life is complicated and that sometimes the road toward your goal has a lot of surprising twists and turns. She understands how you can sometimes feel even further away from where you want to be despite your best efforts. No matter the reason you may choose to meet with a counselor, Kristina believes that you should be in control. You have the freedom to say no if something doesn’t seem like the right fit for you. Through open communication, Kristina does her best to ensure that her work is tailored to fit each individual throughout their time in counseling.
