Getting to know Kristy Lynn Crownover

Hi there, I'm Kristy! My name is Kristy Crownover, and I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master’s in Psychology from California Southern University. I am a trauma-informed, emotionally focused therapist working with couples, families, and individuals. I specialize in improving relationships with others and, most importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves. My approach I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which helps people understand and change negative cycles with important people in their lives. This allows clients to gain new awareness of their relationships and move toward secure attachment. I utilize interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness, and client-centered therapy to help clients repair wounds from the past, step out of old patterns, recognize defense moves (their own and others’), and improve emotional intelligence. My focus I specialize in working with couples in distress, families preparing to welcome a baby, and postpartum difficulties. I enjoy working with families and individuals looking to reduce conflict, improve communication, and change limiting behaviors such as anger management, anxiety, OCD, and addictions. I tend to work with clients tired of feeling disconnected from their partner or themselves. Many want to quiet their inner critic, understand their behaviors, explore new possibilities, and shift perspective toward hope. My communication style I strive to create an emotionally safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment. I want to build a strong alliance with each client and offer unconditional positive regard. I hope working with me feels empowering and productive. My goals for you My approach to goals is collaborative. During initial sessions, I explore clients’ goals and work together to create a plan. Throughout our work, we check in and reassess short- and long-term goals as needed.

Kristy has been a game changer for my partner and I. We have tried other couples counseling which didn’t work well for us. Her approach using Attachment Theory and EFT has really helped us learn more about our dynamic and cycle.
