Kyle Deaver, LPC

Kyle Deaver, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, EMDR certified, with a background in acute psychiatric settings including Partial Hospital Programs. I work with teens and adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and ADHD through a telehealth practice. My approach is direct and practical. I use EMDR and CBT because they work. EMDR is particularly effective for people who have tried talk therapy before and felt stuck. It targets how difficult memories and experiences are stored in your brain and body, reaching what conversation alone often cannot. I work with people who know something needs to change but are not always sure where to start. Whether it is anxiety that will not quit, trauma that never fully processed, depression that makes basic things harder than they should be, or ADHD affecting daily life in ways they are just starting to understand, the goal is the same. Understand what is actually driving your symptoms and make real progress, not just talk about what is hard. Accepting new clients throughout NJ and PA via telehealth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first thing I focus on is the relationship. If we do not have a solid foundation built on trust and honesty, none of the actual therapeutic work will land the way it should. I spend the early sessions getting to know you before we dive into anything deeper, and that is intentional, not filler. I am direct and I expect the same in return. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to work on. You just need to show up and be honest about where you are. Sessions are 60 minutes. If we are doing EMDR, we build coping skills and stabilization before moving into processing. That is how the model works and it makes the deeper work more effective when we get there. If at any point it does not feel like a good fit, I would rather we talk about it than have you stick around in something that is not working.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is an intake. We cover your history, what is bringing you in, what you have tried before, and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. I ask a lot of questions because the more I understand your full picture early on, the better I can actually help. From there the early sessions are focused on building the relationship and understanding what the work needs to look like for you specifically. No two people come in with the same story and I do not treat them like they do. Once we have that foundation we get into the actual work, whether that is processing trauma through EMDR, working on thought patterns with CBT, or building practical tools for managing anxiety or ADHD in daily life. Sessions are collaborative and I check in regularly to make sure we are moving in the direction you want to go.
