Hi there, I'm Kyndell! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I understand how difficult it is to ask for help, especially for marginalized communities, and I seek to support those from various backgrounds in navigating the stressors we encounter daily. My approach I am an empathetic, supportive therapist who also holds us accountable! I use a holistic, strengths-based perspective, acknowledging life’s complexities and their impact on day-to-day living. I encourage clients to become their biggest advocates and empower themselves to move forward. My focus I have 4+ years of experience working with the Veteran population. I primarily work with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and racial trauma. My communication style Working with me feels like a "regular" conversation. I aim for natural flow and avoid a robotic "question and answer" style. I may pause if we stray off track. I listen carefully and am mindful of body language. My journey to mental healthcare Since childhood, I’ve had a passion for helping others and knew this would be my path. Growing up in the Black community, I witnessed how hard it is when we don’t seek help. We all deserve to be heard, cared for, and listened to, and to have therapists who share similar experiences to make therapy feel less scary. My goals for you Therapy can be difficult. I work with clients to discuss what they want to achieve, no matter how small or large. Goal setting begins in session one. As sessions progress, I provide feedback on steps forward or backward toward our mutually stated goals.
