“It was my first appointment with Lane Ratchford. She was prompt and friendly. When I mentioned that I was nervous she acknowledged that that was normal and explained how the first meeting would go. She listened, ask questions and made me feel comfortable sharing personal grief and issues that made me feel very vulnerable. At the end we talked about next steps and said she would send me appointment options. Great first experience!”

Getting to know Lane Ratchford

Hi, I'm Lane. I know that looking for a therapist—finding the right "fit" and someone you can trust—can be a daunting process. Let me tell you a little about my practice, and if you have any questions, please reach out and ask me. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and bring over 15 years of experience in various forms of clinical practice. Over this time, I have accumulated a number of techniques for helping folks feel more whole in their daily experience. At the core, I believe it’s my job to get to know and honor your truth and endemic wisdom. I’m here to be a compassionate partner in your self-exploration—to hold the flashlight while we spelunk into your past and present, the hammer while you build an inner refuge of safety, or your gear while you try something new and growthful. Honesty, transparency, and trust in our relationship are paramount. I am always interested in hearing your thoughts and feelings about our working relationship. Often, talking about what’s happening in the moment, in our interactions, is therapeutic and leads to new skills that can be used in everyday life. Therapy is a place to learn about and practice being authentic, noticing along the way the places you might have had to curtail your truths to cope in previous situations. Each therapy is unique, as each client is unique, so I design our process in collaboration with you. I especially enjoy working with people who have some experience of "otherness"—of not fitting in with the prevailing culture—so uniqueness is safe and welcome with me. I strive to work with both body and mind, ordinary and non-ordinary states of mind, not separating these or being “in our heads” talking, but making sure the full range of your experience is welcomed into the therapy session.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will be exploratory, and I will ask questions about you and your history in getting to know what our work will be. As I tailor the work to your goals, we will be in ongoing discussion about how things are going and any adjustments you would like to make to our work. Opening up places that are bruised or wounded in the inner life takes courage, and doesn't always lead to immediate catharsis or contentment. The end of some sessions may feel like you're 10 times lighter; sometimes you may feel heavier if you're in the middle of processing something hard; sometimes they may just feel "meh". All of these states are part of the work. Along this range of experience, I hope that clients leave sessions feeling like they have an ally accompanying them through the change process..

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
