Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Larry Sherfield, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University. Since 2002, I have worked in mental health in various roles, including medical and clinical social worker and psychotherapist. I am trained in evidence-based models and use a strength-based, solution-focused, trauma-informed approach. I specialize in anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment disorder, grief, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. My approach I use a client-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed method that is empathetic and non-judgmental. This helps me meet clients where they are, identify and build upon their strengths, and find coping skills that best support their therapy goals. My focus I typically work with clients experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, PTSD, and adjustment disorders related to major life stressors. I also support clients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder who are under a physician's care, have symptoms managed by medication, and seek psychotherapy as part of their mental health support. My communication style I bring a calm demeanor and take time to build rapport, creating a therapeutic atmosphere where clients can relax and focus on progress. I work to earn trust while providing emotional support and practical coping skills. My journey to therapy I am passionate about mental health because I am deeply interested in people and believe mental health issues are often underdiagnosed and clients underserved. I am excited about the opportunities telehealth offers to expand access to psychotherapy. My goals for you I use a person-centered, nonjudgmental approach to support clients in achieving self-determined, healthy mental health goals. My first session with you Our first session will give us a chance to get to know each other, build rapport, and determine if we are a good fit for working together.
