Getting to know Laura Anderson

You’ve been through more than most people realize. Maybe your trauma wasn’t just one event — it was years of surviving, adapting, and pushing forward. You may look “high-functioning,” but inside you’re exhausted, hyper-aware, or disconnected. And if therapy hasn’t always felt safe or helpful for you, you’re not alone — many of my clients come to me after feeling misunderstood or unseen by previous therapists. In our work together, you can expect warmth, honesty, and a steady presence. My approach is trauma-informed, grounding, and deeply respectful of the ways you’ve learned to survive. We move at your pace while creating real, meaningful shifts — rebuilding safety in your body, untangling old patterns, and helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been silenced or overlooked. If you’re ready for therapy that feels safe, validating, and genuinely collaborative, I’m here to support you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, steady, and collaborative. I work at a pace that honors both your history and your capacity. My approach integrates relational therapy, somatic awareness, parts work, and EMDR to help you shift long-standing patterns from the inside out. I also provide support around sexuality and gender, including identity exploration, coming out, navigating internalized messages, and healing trauma connected to these experiences. My space is LGBTQIA+ affirming and grounded in consent, autonomy, and empowerment. For clients who are interested, I offer EMDR and ketamine-assisted/psychedelic and psycholytic therapy as additional pathways for accessing deeper emotional material. We make these choices together, based on your goals and readiness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, the first few sessions focus on getting to know you — your history, your strengths, what’s been difficult, and what you’re hoping to change. We move at a pace that feels comfortable, with special attention to safety and building trust, especially if therapy has felt overwhelming or disappointing in the past. A typical session is a mix of conversation, reflection, and gentle exploration of what’s happening in your body and emotions. I help you notice patterns, understand your nervous system, and connect with parts of yourself that may have been ignored or pushed down for years. You’re always in control of where we go and how deep we go. As we build a strong foundation, we can integrate EMDR, CBT, DBT, somatic work, or ketamine-assisted/psychedelic-informed therapy if they’re a good fit for you. These modalities are approached thoughtfully and collaboratively, with plenty of preparation and integration. Throughout the process, sessions are grounded in warmth, consent, and transparency — so you always know what we’re doing and why. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered in your healing.

Laura has made a meaningful difference in my mental health journey. From the very beginning, she has been incredibly attentive and fully present during every session. Her communication is clear, compassionate, and thoughtful, which made it easy for me to open up and feel understood. She consistently goes above and beyond—she has even taken the time to send me videos and resources that she felt would resonate with me and support what I’m working through. That level of personalized care is something you don’t find often, and I truly appreciate it. She’s also been very patient and flexible when I’ve needed to reschedule, which helped reduce so much stress. On top of that, she is always on time and professional, yet still warm and welcoming. Overall, I feel genuinely supported, heard, and encouraged. She has been a steady, positive force in my healing process, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who truly cares.
Laura is absolutely amazing!!!
