Psychotherapist
4021 112th St., Lubbock, TX
I am Laura K. Garcia, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas, supervised by Lauren Masciarelli, M.A., LPC-S, LMFT-S. As a Mexican-American immigrant, I understand the deep longing for belonging, identity, and healing that many immigrants and adult children of immigrants experience. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate this journey while reclaiming their voice, rebuilding self-trust, and stepping into a life of wholeness. I have a heart for those betrayed in relationships, particularly partners of sex and pornography addicts. Betrayal trauma can leave you feeling lost, questioning everything you thought was true, and struggling with overwhelming pain and triggers. You may feel like the ground beneath you has crumbled—but you are not alone. I am here to help you process your pain, make sense of a world that no longer feels safe, and work through the emotional and physiological triggers that feel all-consuming. Together, we can rebuild a foundation of self-trust, empowerment, and healing. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University and my master’s degree in Counseling from Divine Mercy University. In my work, I see every person as whole—mind, body, and spirit. As a Spanish speaker, I am deeply committed to supporting Spanish-speaking communities in their healing journeys. I believe that while life can be messy and complex, every person is inherently good and worthy of love, connection, and a life that feels deeply meaningful. If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and wholeness, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I view my clients in a holistic way- considering not only their emotional and mental capacities, but cultural, spiritual, relational, familial, and physical capacities as well. I believe all areas affect each other and to truly heal- all capacities must be considered. I believe in deep healing work. I am not one to give band-aid solutions or basic coping skills. I work from this perspective: nothing is wrong with you. You are not a project or something to be fixed. You are a human with human emotions, human experiences, human reactions, and human needs. Maybe some of your choices or maybe some of your behaviors have not worked well for you. We can work on learning new ones. I want you to accept and love yourself so you can be empowered to make choices that are fulfilling for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first few sessions, we will get to know each other. I will gather information about you and ask about your life. You can answer to the level of your comfort. We will work on building trust in our relationship. After we have created trust, the "work" begins. We will move at your pace, as your comfort and safety is a priority. You are encouraged to ask questions throughout the process and make comments about things that you feel are working and things that you feel are not working. The therapy room is a safe place for you to practice advocating for your own needs and desires. We will work together to achieve your goals and help you lead a life where you can flourish. Length of treatment depends on what you are coming in for. For instance, if you are wanting premarital counseling, we might only take 12 sessions. If you are wanting to do deep trauma work, that may take a year or so. This can be discussed in the beginning sessions. I look forward to working with you!
