Laura Miles, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Laura! Sometimes we go through life holding onto lessons we learned as children and adolescents, but as adults, those lessons may no longer resonate with the new experiences we face. My approach I have always believed that therapy must fit the needs of the client. A person-centered approach remains fundamental to effective therapy. I provide a friendly, interactive style that invites collaboration. Additionally, I offer an educational model that clients can use independently, fostering a renewed sense of empowerment in problem-solving. My focus I am experienced in supporting people who experience depression, anxiety, and dissociation. Life stage changes and unexpected challenges affect each of us differently. I believe that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness, especially when feeling overwhelmed. My communication style I strive to be authentic and to be the kind of person I would want to talk to when feeling sad, lonely, anxious, scared, or uncertain about a wide range of emotions. My journey to therapy I grew up curious and guided by values that encouraged me to consider others' feelings alongside my own. When that perspective was no longer enough, I looked inward with much support and learned deeply about what it means to be human. My passion for understanding found direction when I realized I could help others through therapy. My education I hold a Master's degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from California State University, Northridge. My goals for you I ask my clients about their dreams and aspirations-or if they've forgotten them-and how they arrived at the place they are when we meet. My first session with you I will strive to be kind and listen attentively. I will provide a structure where we can talk about your challenges and explore how they connect with your thoughts and emotions.
