“Laura's gentle, guiding method of therapy was exactly what I needed to gradually gain the confidence I needed to aid my healing journey. Although therapy is always hard, I never felt that she was hard on me, if that makes sense. I never felt wrongly judged or uncomfortable with her, and that's extremely valuable to me.”

Getting to know Laura Nguyen

I believe in being person-centered, creating a safe space, and personalizing an integrative approach to help with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship dynamics, and existential exploration. We each have a resilient spirit within us, and therapy can support us in accessing our deepest emotions, knowing ourselves better, and walking our path with a stronger sense of self. I strive to foster your healing and empowerment and encourage you to start your journey today to create deeper fulfillment in your life. My approach I draw upon mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment-based therapy, and family systems, among others. I am also trained in trauma work, particularly eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), to tie together the mind-body connection in healing. My focus My clients often seek support to understand their internal landscape as well as the interpersonal, community, and societal systems they live within, along with their multicultural experiences. We explore dynamics, early memories, present triggers, and adaptive ways to integrate the past with current and future goals. My communication style I create a warm, empathic, and welcoming space. I speak with a calm tone and am fully attentive as I actively listen, curiously explore thoughts, feelings, and actions, and collaborate to assist progress toward healing and growth while acknowledging each person’s unique needs. My journey to therapy The helping professions called me, and I sought to be a source of support and healing in others' lives. I have experienced the transformative benefit of compassionate care and believe we are meant to move through life with others who truly hear and see us while walking beside us as we create meaning. Education I earned my Master’s in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton, and hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego.
