“I feel comfortable being able to discuss anything with her. She offers valuable insights and practical ideas to support my challenges. She will crochet while we talk sometimes or sit with her cat on her lap and I find it comforting. I appreciate that I can share my Christian beliefs and experiences with her and she can relate with her own experiences based in her faith. She is friendly and warm and it feels like I am chatting with a friend rather than a mental health professional.”

Getting to know Laura Olson

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist. I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University. The classes in the MFT program also fulfilled the requirements of the American Art Therapy Association for art therapy. I have experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), supporting clients in developing a healthier relationship with their thoughts and feelings. I have worked extensively with clients coping with depression, stress, and anxiety, as well as processing grief, loss, and life transitions. I am passionate about making mental health services more accessible to those who need them and normalizing the importance of seeking support.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session is focused on getting to know you and identifying what areas you need support in. The following sessions are about setting goals and figuring out the best way for you to work toward those goals with my support. Those sessions and the ones to follow involve interventions and learning strategies related to your goals that will help you achieve them.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
