Getting to know Lauren Abasheva

Do you ever feel like you have to monitor, pull back, and even hide yourself from others? From friends, family, acquaintances, even from yourself? Do you tend to put your needs and wants at the bottom of the list? Are you ready to commit to you? Together, we will work side by side to help strengthen your confidence, awareness, insight, healing, and make progress within yourself. I am Lauren, an Expressive Arts Therapist, sex-positive, kink-knowledgeable, gender-affirming, and trauma therapist. As a white, pansexual, neurodivergent therapist, I understand that we are all different. I provide a laid-back atmosphere and focus on helping others build an understanding about themselves—their identity, their relationships, their spiritual connections, and the relationship they have with sex. I help others understand their trauma, whether physical, mental, sexual, spiritual, or otherwise. While utilizing evidence-based practices, I strive to support, encourage, and empower you. I view mental health as equally important as physical health. When an injury or illness occurs, seeking professional intervention, guidance, and support can improve overall wellness. I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College. Depending on your physical environment, social circle, culture, religion, heredity, and experiences, life can feel limited. Let’s continue to stay curious. There are options out there that align with you and your values. Let’s work together toward a healthier and happier you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

"First session will be all about the assessment and goals for therapy. It's important to set the goal for each session, while reviewing the issues and concerns from the previous session. It is also important to set the expectations. Change does not happen overnight, and it's important to remember that small changes (baby steps) is progress. Therapy will focus on developing the tools that help you accomplish your goals little by little. While adding on/taking away depending on trial and error. You are welcome to communicate feedback. What is working, what is not working. You will be able to process thoughts and emotions relating to personal experiences; gain insight and build resiliency to overcome distress.

Lauren Abasheva has proved to be a ray of light as I fight out of the darkness. She's right there with me, handing me the necessary tools needed to dig through the wreckage that's my past in order to see the potential beauty in my everyday experiences. How good it is to find an ally.
It is so difficult to find a good therapist. One that doesn’t judge you or make you feel like something is wrong with you. Lauren is amazing. I can tell her anything and she thinks of anything she can to find a resolution. Some days I just need someone to listen and she does just that. Thank you Lauren for everything. I hope I can work with you forever.
Lauren is very easy to talk to, and has been very helpful with my situation. She helps me think about my situation constructively and her opinion is very honest.
