Lauren Carter, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
Hi there, I'm Lauren. I am so glad you found me because that means you are looking for a change, support, and digging into issues that may have just come to light or issues that you have been carrying on your own for far too long. You may be asking yourself, "What's wrong with me?" or "Why am I like this?" Things may feel like they are falling apart and you want to give up. However, you did not give up. You are reaching out for help, and that is not easy. It is among the first steps toward feeling better, and I am here to go on that journey with you. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Indiana University?Purdue University, and while I cannot directly make you feel better or solve your problems, I can provide a safe space with compassion and understanding to explore solutions with you. By using evidence-based techniques and processing your experiences, I believe in empowering you to focus on the things you can control and accepting the things that you cannot. I look forward to working with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions you will always feel heard, supported, and validated. There is no prescribed outline of how each session will go, I focus on the individual and what is needed most in the moment. You are the driver and I may not always have the exact directions, but we can map the course together even if we sometimes need to change directions.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
