Getting to know Lauren Goldstein

Hi there, I'm Lauren! My name is Lauren ?Cory? Goldstein, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I utilize a combination of therapeutic styles in my work with adults. I specialize in chronic pain/illness, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. My approach My approach to therapy always starts with meeting the client exactly where they are and building trust and understanding. Moving forward, I like to co-collaborate with the client on goals for therapy. From there, I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, drawing on ideas and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Self-Compassion. My focus My work focuses on adults going through periods of transition or hardship, whether physical or mental. I specialize in working with clients who are suffering from chronic pain or illness. Whether newly diagnosed or managing a long-standing chronic disease, I work with clients to understand the mind-body connection, develop coping skills, and build self-compassion. I also support clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. My communication style My communication style is calm, accepting, and funny. I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist was deeply influenced by my own experience with chronic pain and therapy. Seeing firsthand how interconnected the mind and body are provided me with tools to address not only physical pain but also the wide range of emotional pain that comes with a chronic pain diagnosis. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is a completely collaborative process between me and the client. During our first few sessions, we will develop trust and brainstorm goals for both during and outside of sessions.
