“Been through many therapist’s to find a good fit for my daughter. Finally found one who was kind, supportive to my daughter’s needs and didn’t make her feel like she was weird. Hoping things continue on this path and can start getting the help she’s been in need of. We are finally feeling like there is hope.”

Getting to know Lauren Mossanen

Lauren Mossanen is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Hope Matters Institute. Lauren is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a background in psychology and clinical training from USC and Pepperdine. She works with a wide range of clients—including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families—supporting concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Her approach is relational and integrative, drawing from evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, EFT, ACT, and mindfulness, while tailoring treatment to each individual. Lauren prioritizes creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore challenges, gain insight, and develop tools to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a collaborative, supportive, and down-to-earth experience. I focus on building a strong, trusting relationship first, because that’s where real change happens. I tailor therapy to you—drawing from approaches like CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and attachment-based work—rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. Some sessions may focus on practical tools, while others explore deeper patterns or past experiences. I’m present, honest, and engaged, and I’ll gently challenge you when it’s helpful while respecting your pace. My goal is to help you feel understood, gain clarity, and build tools to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process starts with getting to know you—your story, what’s bringing you in, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. In the first few sessions, we focus on building rapport, understanding patterns, and identifying goals that feel meaningful to you. From there, sessions typically involve a mix of processing what’s coming up in your life, exploring underlying thoughts and emotions, and building practical tools you can use outside of session. I may offer coping strategies, ask reflective questions, or help you look at situations from a different perspective. Each session is collaborative and tailored to you—some days may feel more structured, while others are more open and focused on what you need in that moment.
