Getting to know Lauren Oestmann

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or like you just can't get everything done? Do you often wonder how everyone else seems to manage but you can't? Like you are letting people down or that you are not enough? Do you struggle to find joy in everyday life or find it difficult to quiet racing thoughts and enjoy the moment? If so, you have come to the right place. My name is Lauren, and I am a licensed clinical social worker in Illinois with over 13 years of experience across diverse settings. I have worked with families, children, and teens in residential substance abuse programs, private practice, adoption preservation, and correctional facilities. I have helped clients overcome anxiety, depression, burnout, mom guilt, process past traumas, and develop coping skills necessary to live a balanced life. I hold an EdD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Sarasota, which enriches my understanding of mental health and therapeutic approaches. My style is client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy, combined with genuine conversation. I take a laid-back approach because I believe in meeting clients where they are and working at a pace that feels comfortable for them. I understand that reaching out for help can be scary, but you don’t have to struggle alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will provide us an opportunity to get to know one another a bit. I will ask some general intake questions and talk with you about what you hope to achieve during our work together. I also encourage you to ask me any questions you may have at this time as well.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
