Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Lauren! Welcome to therapy! I've got good news and bad news. The good news is you've actually done the hardest part - showing up. The bad news, if you want to call it that, is you will need to keep doing that part to reach your goals. But don't worry, I'm here to help, and if we click, I promise showing up will become something you will look forward to. My approach When was the last time you felt heard - I mean really heard? For most people, sadly, it's been a while. Our world moves so fast, and unfortunately, it has gotten way more focused on telling you things and selling you things to worry very much about how you are doing. Even that phrase - how are you doing - isn't really a question anymore... It's become just something we say, and we all know it. It may seem like a small or simple thing, but it's actually a big deal. You'd be amazed how much anxiety, fear, pain, grief, trauma, and angst we hold onto because we feel alone and unheard by a world full of people who are, sad to say, mostly just waiting for their turn to talk. So, that's where I keep the focus of my approach as a therapist - how are YOU doing? Keeping this client-centric focus allows me to tailor my therapy holistically to your needs as a person, without getting hung up on technical, clinical diagnoses. You are more than just your "problem" or diagnosis, and helping you to become the person you want to be may be about more than just the particular thing that brought you to the therapist's couch. My focus I work with clients from adolescence to retirement and from all kinds of social, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help my them dig into their fears, anxieties, relationships, aspirations, and passions to help empower them to become the healthy, loving, balanced, and self-actualized people they want to be. My communication style First and foremost, I listen to YOU, I learn about YOU, and I engage with what is in YOUR heart and mind.
