Hi there, I'm Laurie! I have worked in the field for over 20 years. I graduated from Boston University with my Master’s in Social Work and have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, public housing, a senior center, and a hospital for case management. I have also taught social work courses at Salem State and North Shore Community College. When I am not working, I can be found planning travel adventures that I sometimes take. My approach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Motivational Interviewing, Feminist My focus I work with people who struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, hoarding, and anxiety. I also work with children of people who hoard and family members. My communication style I offer a warm, judgment-free space where we find a starting place and begin to make small changes that will create bigger changes in your life. I use worksheets and homework to make the time between sessions a chance for you to practice what we work on together. My journey to mental healthcare I very much enjoy the work that I do and have been told often that it shows. I have personal lived experience with my specialty areas, which has helped me connect with clients and family members over the years. My goals for you Collaborative goal setting, with a bit of a push to do more and create a plan to face fears and conquer compulsions and avoidance. My first session with you Our first few sessions will be a time to get to know each other, complete assessments, and start to learn the tools we will use while we work together. We will create a treatment plan and hierarchy of goals to address in session.
