Hi there, I'm LaVina! My name is Lavina Ellison. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#138663) with a Master's in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Global. My approach I apply a variety of therapeutic approaches to help my clients reach their goals. The most common theoretical approaches I use are CBT, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic, and Client-Centered. My focus I typically work with clients dealing with relationship issues, grief, behavior issues, depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I tend to thrive with clients facing depression, trauma, anxiety, and low self-esteem. My communication style I offer a non-judgmental space to help clients feel like they can be themselves and keep it real in session. I am very compassionate and utilize active listening to help clients feel heard and supported. I am also quite direct at times to help clients challenge and move past therapeutic roadblocks. My journey to therapy In my life, I encountered two awesome therapists who absolutely revolutionized my thinking patterns about myself. They were so impactful that I said to myself, ?I want to do this for people!? I am driven by the desire to help people heal and reconstruct their lives for the better. My goals for you I approach goal setting as a collaborative effort between me and my client. For me, goal setting is one of the first steps toward autonomy for the client. My first session with you In the first session, you will be met with warmth and respect as I explain informed consent, confidentiality, and its exceptions. Then, I will guide you through the appropriate assessment to identify the reasons you desire therapy.
