I’m Wayna Berry, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate grief, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and identity changes with compassion and clarity. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed — blending evidence-based practices with practical tools that support emotional healing and everyday resilience. I believe therapy should be a safe place to breathe, process, and rebuild. Together, we’ll explore your story, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and develop strategies that strengthen confidence, boundaries, and self-compassion. My work is deeply rooted in empowerment: helping clients move from survival mode into a life that feels grounded, purposeful, and whole. Clients who work with me often appreciate my ability to listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, and gently challenge beliefs that may be keeping them stuck. Whether you’re coping with loss, burnout, strained relationships, or simply wanting to feel more like yourself again, we’ll move at your pace — with respect for your experiences and your goals. I look forward to supporting you on your healing journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a therapy space that feels safe, respectful, and genuinely collaborative. I believe healing happens when you feel seen and heard — not rushed or judged. My style is compassionate, direct when needed, and always grounded in curiosity about your story rather than assumptions about who you “should” be. I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, meaning we go at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. Together, we’ll explore patterns, emotions, and experiences that may be impacting your life, while also developing practical tools you can use between sessions. You’ll notice that I often ask reflective questions, offer gentle challenges, and celebrate your progress — even the small steps. I view therapy as a partnership. I bring clinical expertise and structure; you bring your lived experience and wisdom. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, empowered, and capable of navigating life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. Most importantly, you do not have to “have it all together” here. This is a place to be honest, process openly, and learn new ways to care for yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what has brought you to therapy at this time. We’ll talk about what’s working in your life, what feels difficult, and what you hope will change. I’ll also review your history, current stressors, and any symptoms you’re experiencing so we can create a plan that fits you, not a one-size-fits-all model. Once we have a shared understanding, we work together to set clear, realistic goals. Sessions often include a mix of talking through experiences, learning coping tools, exploring thoughts and emotions, and practicing skills you can use between appointments. My approach integrates trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and relational work — always guided by your comfort level and priorities. Throughout therapy, we regularly check in about what’s helpful, what needs to be adjusted, and how you’re feeling about the process. I believe therapy should feel collaborative and purposeful, and I encourage open communication so we can make sure our work stays aligned with your needs. The goal is not perfection — it’s progress, insight, and learning healthier ways to move through challenges with resilience and self-compassion.

I believe mental health care should be as accessible and transparent as possible. I partner with **Headway** to manage insurance billing and benefits, which helps make the process simple, secure, and easy for clients. If you are using insurance, Headway will verify your benefits before your first appointment so you know what to expect regarding coverage, copays, or deductibles. When I am in-network with your plan, Headway bills your insurance directly and you are only responsible for any applicable copay, coinsurance, or deductible at the time of your visit. For out-of-network or self-pay clients, payment is due at the time of service. I can provide a superbill upon request so you may submit it to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan. I accept major credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and electronic payments for your convenience. If cost is a concern, please feel free to talk with me. I offer a limited number of reduced-fee and flexible payment options because I believe finances should not be a barrier to getting support. My goal is to make this part of the process clear, supportive, and stress-free—so you can focus on what really matters: your healing and growth.
