Lea Hunter, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Hi there, I'm Lea! Over the past 23 years, I've enjoyed working with individual adults, adolescents, couples, and families seeking tools to overcome challenges. I provide a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive space for individuals to grow. My approach I have an integrated style of theories in counseling such as CBT, Mindfulness, Trauma Focused, Solution Focused, Narrative, and Family Systems Theory. I believe the intervention should match the client versus "one size fits all." I believe real therapeutic change happens outside of the therapy session, so I often provide feedback and assign homework to practice between appointments. My focus I enjoy working with individuals seeking tools to feel empowered to navigate their own lives. I'm a therapist who listens and validates your experiences while guiding you through new perspectives. My specialty areas include anxiety, low self-esteem, codependency, relationship concerns, trauma, and grief issues. My communication style I tend to be an active participant in sessions. I build rapport through empathy, validation, and humor. My communication style also includes therapeutic feedback and clinical guidance. My journey to mental healthcare I graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1999 with a bachelor of science in psychology. I began working as a behavior specialist for those with intellectual disabilities before obtaining my Master's degree in 2002. I have worked in multiple settings as a therapist over the years such as sexual assault/domestic abuse shelters, community mental health facilities, and private practices. I am licensed in Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. My goals for you At each session, we discuss what goals the individual wants to reach. I collaborate with clients to discuss interventions and skills that can assist them in reaching those goals.
