“Dr Leah is generously kind and empathetic; helped me feel seen; and helped me to deeply see myself to acknowledge and see where I need to let go of my past trauma, even in a short amount of time. I am sad it didnt work out insurance-wise.”

“It of course feels good to talk, but I so appreciate getting feedback, and feel like I’m being heard and not just talking to myself and being told I will “find solutions on my own”. I need someone to tell me what they’re hearing from me to get a better understanding of myself. Therapy without that, for me, is useless.”

Getting to know Leah Matson

Welcome to your search for a therapist. I love being a part of your experience, and I have spent my life training for and providing deep participation in improving the quality of life for my clients. Having been a teacher of psychology for years at Antioch University, Los Angeles, I provide a full spectrum of theory and tools to support your new life choices and design. I have had a private practice since 1990 and have witnessed the inspiring efforts clients make, often in the face of great difficulty, to wrestle with their problems of living. I participated in a Theoretical Philosophical specialty for my Doctoral program at USC and also hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of South Carolina. I have a lot of experience in a happy bi-racial marriage. Imagination and curiosity often guide you to new answers, offering choices and changes that, with work, finally feel truly authentic. Leah Matson has a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from USC and the University of South Carolina. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing personal counseling for individuals, couples, and families in Santa Monica, CA. She also practices Neurofeedback. Leah specializes in relationship enhancement, PTSD, problem solving, creative living, artistic blocks, and working in the entertainment industry. She is a college teacher of psychology and creative process at Antioch University in Los Angeles and taught for several years at Esalen.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
