Leah Sauls, LPC

Psychotherapist
VA
Hi there, I'm Leah! My name is Leah Sauls, and I am a licensed professional counselor in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Liberty University and my Bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston. I use many different types of modalities in my clinical work and typically work with clients who struggle with anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. **My approach** I have experience in several different treatments. I typically use cognitive behavioral therapy as well as motivational interviewing. I also have experience with dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma work. **My focus** I work with all types of people from age 11 to 73. Many of my clients face anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and relationship challenges. **My communication style** I am laid back and love to help people get to where they want to be. I push just enough and am also very empathetic. I build rapport with people easily, and I truly love what I do. **My journey to mental healthcare** Working at a state mental hospital opened my eyes to the vast array of mental health issues. I got to know the patients and loved hearing their stories. I knew I wanted to help and promote change in the field. I have loved people in general since I was a little girl and have always known I wanted to spend my life helping others. **My goals for you** I like to talk about goals from the start and see where the client wants to go. I revisit this topic from time to time to ensure they are comfortable with their progress and to update or adjust goals as needed. **My first session with you** I always preface my first sessions by letting clients know this session will be unlike the rest, as I am on a mission to ask as many questions as possible. I want to get to know you, understand where you've been, and learn where you want to go.
