Getting to know Leah Zachter

Hi! I'm Leah, a therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, strengthen their relationships, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. I believe therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, compassion, and curiosity, where clients can feel safe exploring their experiences without judgment. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, providing support for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and difficulties with emotional regulation. My approach is warm, individualized, and informed by evidence-based practices while recognizing that each person’s journey is unique. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we can explore patterns, build on your strengths, and work toward greater self-awareness, healing, and personal growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My ideal clients are adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling to navigate life’s challenges. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma, or difficulty managing intense emotions. Some are motivated for change but don’t know where to begin, while others simply need a safe space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that no one should have to face life’s challenges alone. Sometimes the most important first step is having someone to talk to—someone who will listen without judgment and help you explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with curiosity and compassion. From there, we can work together to build insight, develop practical coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and increase confidence in navigating life’s uncertainties. My goal is to help clients stop living from a place of fear and begin engaging more fully in the lives they want to create. Using evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care, I strive to help clients build a life that feels meaningful, balanced, and worth living while fostering lasting growth and emotional well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to provide support, guidance, and tools to help them work toward their goals. I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBTI, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I also incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I integrate these modalities to help clients develop effective coping strategies, increase emotional awareness, strengthen problem-solving skills, and create meaningful change. I focus on exploring the function of behaviors and patterns, as well as anxiety and other struggles that may be impacting a client’s life. Often, therapy focuses on challenging thoughts and encouraging behavioral changes, which can be helpful, but this can sometimes overlook the function of the behavior. Rather than vilifying behaviors, which can contribute to shame, I believe it is important to explore what purpose the behavior may be serving and what underlying needs it may be communicating. Through increased insight and understanding, we can work toward meaningful change that goes beyond surface-level strategies. I strive to balance validation and support with gentle encouragement toward growth. Through curiosity and collaboration, I help clients explore challenges, recognize their strengths, and build skills that support long-term well-being.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider's self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan's benefits.
