What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a strength-based approach to therapy where my clients are the experts on their lives. I provide psychoeducation and compassionate support to help my clients better understand themselves and feel safe, courageous, and empowered to achieve their goals. Since I was a high schooler in Washington, DC, I knew I wanted to be a therapist. Learning about peer mediation at that time inspired me to learn more about how to best support healthy relationships and community wellness. I began my studies in psychology at Vassar College and completed my master's training at The Johns Hopkins University School of Education in 2016. Since that time, I've worked in community mental health settings as a licensed professional counselor providing individual and group therapy to children, adults, and families. My training has focused on trauma-informed approaches in treating ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, and anxiety.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I see therapy as a journey where my client is in the driver's seat and I'm riding along to help with navigating and seeing challenges in blind spots that may be a barrier to progress. We work on applying knowledge and building helpful coping skills to maintain wellness even when the road gets bumpy. In our first session, we talk about what brings you to therapy and answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process. I'll ask questions to better understand what is important to you and how our work in therapy can help you live your best life.
