Getting to know Leonard Noel

My style is warm, inquisitive, client-informed, and grounded in methods shown to be effective in creating relief. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan and have extensive training in Mindfulness-based therapy. I have taught many of my clients to meditate or create an ongoing mindfulness practice, which often benefits those experiencing anxiety and worry. In addition, I utilize Narrative therapy to help clients identify patterns with compassion while creating accountability for change. How we tell the story in our mind impacts how our life unfolds, and learning how to change the story can lead to meaningful transformations. Lastly, I also provide Brainspotting to help address challenging or traumatic experiences in a process that differs from traditional talk therapy. Brainspotting uses spots in a person's visual field to help process traumatic or difficult experiences. It emerged out of EMDR therapy and has been shown to be effective, even in virtual settings.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Some of the qualities that I value as a therapist are authenticity, curiosity and a compassionate approach to client challenges. Having personally benefited from meditation and mindfulness, I know the value it brings. I have a personal and professional interest in Eastern Spirituality, have undergone yoga teacher training, and have been practicing Reiki for over 20 years. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have had the privilege of working with this community throughout my years as a therapist.
