Getting to know Lesli Mitchell

Hi there, I'm Lesli! Hello, my name is Lesli Mitchell, and I have been a practicing LCSW since 2002. I earned my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I have been providing therapy for close to 10 years and practicing as a social worker for nearly 20 years. I am a mother and took some time away from clinical services, which accounts for a gap in my work history. However, being a mother has also enriched my knowledge and perspective. I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting and family challenges, discrimination, abuse, and more. I believe life can be hard for all of us at times. There are moments when we all could benefit from having someone listen nonjudgmentally, encourage us to explore our feelings and thoughts, offer different perspectives, and ask questions that help us discover ways to make changes. Therapy is not about stigmatizing or labeling people; it is about supporting individuals as they courageously explore the possibility of changing their lives and growing in new directions. That said, I am also happy to explore and discuss a person's specific diagnosis if it is relevant to our treatment goals, such as learning how to cope with particular symptoms. As a therapist, it is an honor to hold space for those who choose to take courageous steps toward personal growth and empowerment. My approach I will always treat you with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and expressive arts techniques if there is interest. Ultimately, our work together is not one-size-fits-all. We will get to know each other, discuss goals, and develop treatment plans unique to you and the ways you want to grow in your life. My focus I welcome clients who have been in therapy before as well as those new to the process. Know that therapy is not magic; it often does not produce immediate results because it is more of a process.
