“My husband and I came to Leslie for help improving our communication and understanding of each other. She went the extra mile by agreeing to read a book along with us so that we could collectively discuss the issues we were having. We appreciate her ‚Äútell it like it is‚Äù approach. We needed to be called out respectfully on how our behavior was affecting our relationship. We are communicating far better than we ever had in our previous 30 years of marriage.”

Getting to know Leslie Marchus

Hi there, I'm Leslie! Welcome! Let's take this therapy journey together! I truly enjoy seeing people learn and grow and become happier and more confident in their lives and have improved relationships. My approach My approach is very down to earth. I don't approach counseling like I am the expert telling you what to do. I see this as a collaborative effort to increase wellness and happiness in your life. I start with relationship building. Let's get to know each other a little bit before we delve into the hard work. Then we discuss some goals you are coming to counseling with and come up with a plan to help you reach those goals. I consider us a team in a journey toward wellness. My focus My ideal client is someone (or a family) interested in putting in some work to reach desired outcomes. I expect people to be open and honest because I know it will help them reach their goals, but I also understand that it doesn't always happen right away. Building a client-therapist relationship takes a little time so that you can feel comfortable that I am someone you can trust. Everyone is unique and presents with different issues they want to work on. I enjoy getting to know each person individually and tailoring treatment to that individual, couple, or family. My communication style I have a very down-to-earth, non-judgmental communication style. I believe in treating everyone with respect. People have always told me they feel comfortable talking to me and that they don't feel judged. I am also very direct. I pay a lot of attention to body language and non-verbal cues, and will be direct if it seems someone feels anxious or uncomfortable. Then we work together to remedy that situation before going any further. Let's make sure this process feels safe and comfortable! My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to being a therapist because I love helping people. My whole life, I've been someone that other people come to with their problems and ask for advice.
