Getting to know Lincoya Young

I have experience working with community-based mental health agencies, managed care, and private practice. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University. My passion is working with children and families. I believe that the family is an important institution in society that needs to be preserved. I am sensitive to the client's perspective and never prescribe or make recommendations that directly violate the client's culture, values, or beliefs. My specialty areas include trauma, child abuse, parenting issues, family therapy, coping with loss, play therapy, stress management, and life transitions. I approach therapy from a client-centered perspective, focusing on validating the client's feelings and displaying empathy, with a strong emphasis on the client being the expert.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that real therapy happens outside of the session. Clients need to be able to practice making the changes discussed in therapy. I like to provide Clients tangible to assist in making those changes.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Lincoya is thoughtful and organized. My son has enjoyed his time with her because he is receiving help in being more emotionally intelligent as well as navigating his bigger feelings. She gears the session with child appropriate activities that keep him engaged and learning. He looks forward to meeting with her.
She listened and I am happy to continue with her.

I was in distress and when I repeatedly kept asking how can I not feel like this, she did not give me one strategy to use. I did rebook in hopes that this session today will be different. If not I will be switching therapists.

Did she even read the long questionnaire she had our teenager fill-out before the appointment? Because if she did, she would've known that he has anxiety, clinical depression and ADHD, and if she knew that, why would she ask the reason for the appointment? It's a stupid question and it's not usually a big deal but our teenager thought it was stupid and now he doesn't want to continue with therapy anymore because he thinks all therapists are stupid, always wanting to know why he's there. Again, if you read the answers we provided in your questionnaires and took the time to read the patient's background BEFORE the appointment then you would know how to "carefully" approach the person so that you don't ruin it for them! Aren't you skilled at approaching these volatile people? You got the answers from the questionnaire and from there, you should show up prepared to help and suggest solutions, and not waste time with the same duplicate questions. You ruined it. And you wasted our 30 min.

I feel like she was not focused on what is important . I never really get past the point where they are asking anything more than do you feel like hurting yourself or anybody else or if any ody is in danger... well me obviously no I'm going to counseling to make sense of the problems Going on in my life. I wish there was somebody more focused on a solution rather than if I'm safe or not. I think I'm safe and avoiding all that especially being I'm taking the eight steps to avoid danger or violence. This goes to add to the 2019-present gaslighting bullying poor self esteem and terrible Ness. Of having to keep tucking tail even when I'm right. Anyway this is not a preference counselor she's a 4/10 maybe 5 because she did atleast ask about safety and s
