Lindsay Dozier, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I live in Northern California and provide psychotherapy to individuals and couples aged 18 and older. I use a trauma-informed, bio-psychosocial, collaborative approach with my clients. Our work integrates methods focusing on the mind-body connection. I have worked in a variety of settings, from school- and home-based therapy to psychiatric outpatient facilities. For the last five years, I have been part of an integrated primary care team at a large healthcare facility, addressing chronic disease management, psychological trauma, weight loss issues, and mind-body medicine. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University, which has deepened my understanding of mental health and enhanced my clinical skills. My approach includes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and attachment-based psychotherapy. I will begin somatic experiencing training in September 2022. I appreciate working with clients who are ready for change. I understand that change can be challenging and requires commitment from both myself and my clients. I am flexible regarding scheduling and session length and welcome feedback to tailor care appropriately. My communication style is compassionate, empathic, and strength-based. I believe providing psychoeducation on how our minds and bodies work is essential to understanding ourselves and the challenges that bring people to therapy. My journey to therapy began when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12. Coping with this illness introduced me to my first therapist, who changed my life and inspired me to become an LMFT. Over the years, I have observed how early childhood relationships and traumatic events shape how people interact with the world. I am certified in EMDR, a trauma-based treatment modality, and in integrative medicine for mental health professionals, to assist clients with past challenges that may impact their future.

They texted me asking me to fill out forms. Forms I filled out. Now they're saying I was supposed to do something with texting them back? All their one and only text said was that my appointment would be confirmed after filling out forms. Which, again, were forms I filled out. I hate filling out forms with a passion especially when you don't know if you're going to get along with a therapist or not. I think I'd remember filling out forms for the first therapy appointment I've tried to make in two years of this hellish pandemic. Would not come back without someone fully and properly explaining why the system screwed up.
