Getting to know Lindsey Kohn

Hi, I’m Lindsey. I’m a therapist, an adoptee, and someone who deeply believes in the power of feeling truly seen. Coming out of the fog in my own adoption journey helped me realize that being a therapist isn’t just what I do—it’s my calling. I know how meaningful it can be to have a space where you don’t have to explain yourself or hold it all together. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free environment where you can be fully yourself—where we can gently process the hard stuff and make room to notice and celebrate the good, too.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in creating a space where you can show up exactly as you are. I focus on listening deeply, moving at your pace, and helping you make sense of your experiences without judgment. I specialize in working with all members of the adoption triad, as well as anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, women’s issues, and couples.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I know that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you have never done it before. So with a goal of calming some of your worries, try to consider our first session just a "getting to know you" time. We will briefly review paperwork, I will ask some basic questions about you and then find out what brings you in. It will be like a casual talk between the two (or 3) of us where we can also discuss what to expect moving forward based on your needs.
