Getting to know Lisa Gentry

Hi, I'm Lisa! I'm a therapist, mom, friend, sister, and partner. I've been working for 10 years in the mental health field. I'm passionate about helping others find healing and wholeness. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master's degree in Professional Counseling. I work with adults and motivated teens struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, and poor self-confidence. I have specialized experience treating trauma and substance abuse, and as a Certified DBT Therapist (C-DBT), I also specialize in treating Borderline Personality Disorder or Traits. Additionally, I believe that one of the most underrated experiences is the end of significant relationships. I can help you navigate the grief, find meaning in the loss, and build hope moving forward. I believe that change best happens when we learn to accept where we are while simultaneously challenging ourselves to do better. I love watching cat and dog videos, reading, yoga and Pilates, my King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Shelby, anything Harry Potter, and being a mom. Lisa Gentry is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and her license number is 37PC01075500.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm an active therapist and tend towards a more direct approach to counseling- I try to be real with you and welcome you being real with me. Sessions involve a combination of processing events, thoughts and feelings, developing new and better views of yourself and the world, and learning practical skills to help you navigate life more effectively. I frequently utilize experiential exercises in session. Laughing and crying are the norm!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Lisa is a huge factor in my mental health being more stable during my grief process. I trust her and feel safe with her. I feel she truly has my best interest at heart.
Lisa is great. She is willing to hear my concerns and frame them in a way that is relevant to my experience. She looks for solutions, but not without validating my experiences and really trying to understand what I am trying to get out of my life.
I have sought out therapy for years and been through the ringer with all the therapists I've tried to connect with. NONE of them compare to Lisa. She is authentic with her clients and has many tools of the trade up her sleeve for any sort of issue. I am thankful that after so long, I have finally found a therapist that works well with me and assists with my therapeutic needs.
Lisa feels so easy to talk to. I never feel judged. She is inquisitive in a way that helps me delve deeper into my own thoughts and past experiences at my own pace. She calls out the good and the positives and the progress when I may not have seen them myself. Glad to have found her as my therapist.
Lisa G is a gifted therapist. She is warm, and she quickly establishes a safe space where true healing can take place. She possesses an extensive knowledge of trauma and associated therapy modalities and a remarkable ability to identify and guide me to and through my core issues. Lisa makes me feel seen, heard, and understood in a way that I never have before. I'm incredibly grateful for her.
Ms. Lisa Gentry has been an incredible human and therapist during my short time working with her. I honestly wish I could put all of the above characteristics as positive qualities for her. She doesn't just sit back and just listen but she challenges me and asks for why I think about it instead of just letting me shut down which I usually so. I look to continue to working with her
