Getting to know Lisa Goodson
My name is Lisa Goodson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with five (5) years of experience working with diverse populations of people. My primary goal when working with anyone is providing an individualized empowering experience to support that individual through life’s journey. I consistently work to ensure clients have a safe space to share experiences, thoughts, and feelings. My role is to support my clients with the understanding that counseling sessions are the client’s space, time, and can be used to enhance the quality of an individual’s life.
I have my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a Specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Applied Counseling with specialization in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am a lifetime member of the Psi Chi (The National Honor Society in Psychology) and enjoy continuing to learn in my field of study. I am passionate about music, enjoy reading books, and having new experiences in life.
My methods include using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with the understanding that when addressing clients' needs, other methods may be appropriate. I have additional training in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivation Interviewing, and Perinatal Mental Health.
