Hi there, I'm Lori! Hello, I'm Lori Alford, LCSW, and I have been practicing as a licensed therapist for over 30 years. I have degrees in psychology and social work plus many years of training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. In my practice, I am dedicated to helping clients manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a healthier way while they navigate life's challenges. I work alongside my clients to help them feel better, target problematic behaviors, and reach their goals. My focus areas of practice are depression, anxiety, anger, addictive behaviors, interpersonal communication issues, and difficulty coping with work and other life stressors. My approach My foundational therapeutic approach is Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy which will teach you how your thoughts affect your feelings and behaviors. We will work to uncover any unhelpful thinking styles that can impact your emotional state and behavioral choices. I use mindfulness strategies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. As we work together, I will listen carefully to what your goals are and what patterns of behavior and mood symptoms you wish to change. I will help you connect with your values and develop a growth mindset so that you can feel you are moving forward. My focus I work with adults, 18 and above, who are experiencing emotion dysregulation, anxiety, depression, and anger and who are having difficulty coping with life stressors. I have many years of experience working with all different ages and stages of life. My background includes leading programs for adults with mood disorders, addictions, and a postpartum group. My communication style The tone of our sessions will be non-judgmental, supportive, and positive. I will strive to help you feel comfortable and understood so that you can achieve the changes that you seek. My goal is to work alongside you and to actively listen to your concerns and issues.
