Lori Ayala, MS

Psychotherapist
CA
Hola, my name is Lori Ayala. I have been in the mental health field for about ten years. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Phoenix, and my credentials include Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) and Marriage Family Therapy (AMFT). I focus on my clients’ needs; therefore, I use an eclectic approach because not every case is the same. However, I often use psychodynamics to help clients go deeper. When not wearing my therapist hat, I enjoy hiking, running, watching movies and shows, traveling, eating, and doing all of the above with my dogs Luna, Jango, and Koa. My approach Although eclectic, I assess the client during the first session and share what may be the best approach for the presenting problem. Often, I use psychodynamic with an attachment theory lens. The client narrates their childhood (formative years), where we explore the formation of their attachment style and personality. This is essential to understand presenting problems and find grace to leave the past in the past. My focus I enjoy working with clients ready for change who desire to learn communication, set boundaries, express feelings and emotions, and break generational trauma. I work with teens and adults, generally serving clients 13 years and older. I speak Spanish; therefore, me encantaría trabajar con latin@s. My communication style I have an open and honest approach with clients. I am known to be blunt and direct in my personal life, which I do not shy away from in therapy. I value respect and transparency; clients see a genuine human during sessions. I encourage clients to share their thoughts and feedback at all times. My journey to mental healthcare I believe God has a divine way of working life out; He puts people where they need to be and with whom they need to be. There is no doubt God knew your pain and hardships long before you got here.
