Hi there, I'm Lorin!
I am Lorin Williams East, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University. I believe we all deserve compassion and a space to be authentic while growing and learning how to function in each of our unique lives.
My approach
My only agenda is helping you meet your goals. I bring empathy and an open mind to our sessions and can incorporate CBT, DBT, and Trauma-Focused techniques that work with your own natural strengths.
My focus
I have a special interest in working with people during periods of life change or transition, whether professional, personal, or grief-oriented. I also have expertise in anxiety, depression, and supporting those who have been traumatized by sexual assault or violence within the home.
My communication style
I am an active and non-judgmental listener who seeks to understand your perspective so we can address the root concerns. I ask questions to clarify and ensure I am on the same page as you. I work to never assume I know how you feel or see things.
My journey to therapy
I was drawn to becoming a counselor to use my desire and ability to help people in crisis. This led me to work in the family violence and sexual assault field for about six years. Throughout that time, I found I especially enjoy helping people not just in crisis but also through life changes, anxiety, depression, and processing grief and loss. I've been lucky to always know I wanted to be a counselor and enjoy working with others on a variety of life's challenges.
My goals for you
Progress looks different for everyone and is defined by you as my client. There are times for big moves and changes and times for smaller truths and shifts to occur so you may integrate them into your life successfully. My goal is to help you feel healthier and more confident.
