Psychotherapist

What makes my practice unique is the combination of my clinical experience and my life journey. I’ve lived internationally, including a time in Istanbul, and I believe these diverse life experiences help me connect with clients on a deeper level. Whether it’s riding a camel, owning a horse, or enjoying the simple joys of reading and caring for my pets—two cats and a sweet schnauzer—my life outside the office informs the empathy and insight I bring into session. My approach is grounded in compassion and curiosity. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences and begin to rediscover your strengths. In our first few sessions, we’ll discuss your goals and expectations, assess where you are emotionally, and begin charting a path forward—together. I’m passionate about helping people who struggle with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Everyone deserves support, and I’m here to help you find your way forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My communication tone is based on a person-centered approach to the client by assessing the person's holistic self and needs to determine if the client would benefit from motivational, empowerment, or supportive, gentle nudging. Each client is different and unique, so I consider the communication tone to be different with each person. My grandfather was a social worker originally in the 1930s, and then towards his last years, when I was around 12 years old, I remembered him having a few clients in his home for rehabilitation that impressed me. Gradually, those clients witnessed how he transformed their lives, and it sparked an interest in becoming a counselor myself. It was an interesting journey becoming a counselor that started with medical assisting, then a certified nurse assistant, before completing my bachelor's degree. Then I began focusing on the counseling degree. While becoming a counseling psychologist, EdD, I focused on substance abuse, family therapy, and play therapy. This helped to provide a broader scope of practice for clients who experience different issues.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to help clients reach their goals by meeting them where they are and seeing what that leads us to discover and explore in terms of worksheets, journaling, expressive art, music therapy, or narrative therapy to help nurture them along and provide support while encouraging growth. Our first session is a meet and greet session to get a few assessments completed and establish a history of your concerns so we can develop a treatment plan and formulate a diagnostic impression that guides the process.
