Getting to know Lynette Accomando

Hi and welcome. I am Lynette, licensed in the State of Massachusetts with over 38 years of professional experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I hold an MEd in Community Counseling from Salem State University. I have worked with people facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, anger management, OCD, and ADHD. I have also supported many individuals who have experienced physical trauma and emotional or sexual abuse. My experience includes helping people with stress and anxiety, family conflicts, parenting challenges, depression, and PTSD. I believe you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths to help you overcome the challenges you face. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and I am here to support you in that process. My style is supportive and interactive. I am a great listener and believe in treating others with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I do not believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, person-centered, humanistic, and rational-emotive therapies. I tailor our conversations and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. You are the driver of the bus, and I am here to support you in reaching your goals. I look forward to working with you and helping you get there!

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a therapeutic environment that is compassionate, empathetic, and safe. A therapist or counselor’s role is to offer you insights into your experiences, advice on how to handle issues, and evidence-based treatment for mental health conditions. Successful therapy is not only supported by a well-trained therapist —it largely depends on cooperation and investment from you, the client. Your first therapy session may be a source of anxiety for some people. If you are nervous about your first therapy session, that’s normal. Remember that the goal of the first session is for the therapist to get to know you. A well-trained therapist will do that by asking questions about your life, your background, and what brought you to therapy. The other important goal of the first session is for you to see if you feel comfortable with me “Interviewing” me about my approach, what kinds of issues I'm experienced addressing, and anything else that is relevant to your reason for seeking therapy is a useful way of finding a good fit. Some people just may not click with someone and that's ok I do not take offense to that. If you feel that you cannot click with me then I am not the right fit for you and you should try to seek out someone else that may be able to help you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Lynette is very intuitive and knowledgeable in how people work. She is easy to talk to and has a great balance of being no nonsense and comforting. My partner and I look forward to meeting with her even when it’s been a long day or we have nothing left in us. She also has a great sense of humor. We have both had great and not so great experiences with other therapists are grateful to be working with her.
