“Maddie really helped me navigate a particularly turbulent time in my life that was filled with confusion and uncertainty. She creates a warm, open, judgement free space, like talking to a close friend. She made it a point to make me feel like we were a team working together towards a common goal. She helped me to learn to approach my issues with curiosity and exploration rather than frustration. Would highly recommend Maddie to anyone but especially to those who prefer a more peer like relationship with their therapist”

Getting to know Maddie Sheffer (Hundley)

Sexuality is a really confusing topic. You wonder, you fear, and you ask yourself so many questions: Am I normal? Do other people feel the way I do? Your concerns are very common, even though you feel your thoughts and desires are not. Sexuality is still taboo in America, and even in a city like Los Angeles, unique sexual identities and expressions can be stigmatized. You need to find the strength and comfort in your own desires, your own identity. You deserve to live your life without the inner critic that constantly worries about what others may think. Therapy can help unwind some of the narratives you tell yourself about your life, who you are, and it can definitely restore your self-worth. You don’t have to feel stressed and confused about sexuality; it doesn’t have to feel this way; there is hope! Sexual Identity & Expression The longest relationship you’ve ever had is the one you have with yourself. Understanding who you are to your core is life’s greatest adventure. Identity and expression of that identity is what makes you, YOU. Many people have never had the chance to dissect their desires and learn about their authentic selves. You may not be happy with the way you feel about your body, your gender or identity expression, or maybe you feel inexperienced and nervous about the topic of sexuality; there is room for all of these feelings to be explored. Sexuality is a spectrum, and all of the colors of the wheel are welcome and deserve therapy. Madison Sheffer is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Madison earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. Their CA license number is 126584, and their current employer is Cayla Minaiy.

My partner and I see Maddie for couples counseling and Maddie is a warm and compassionate therapist. She is very patient with us as we work - and sometimes fight - out our issues. She is helping us to take a step back to see what dynamics are at play and to identify what needs we have in order to get them met. I feel comfortable sharing personal things with her because she cultivates an environment of emotional safety.
I have seen Maddie for a long time. She has always been great! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great therapist.
Maddie made me feel comfortable and safe from the moment I began treatment. It is clear that she listens deeply and with a sense or care I have never experienced with previous therapists. Maddie helped me reframe some of my biggest struggles and find hope where I thought there was none. Our weekly sessions were something I really looked forward to, and I have seen so much improvement in my understanding of myself and overall quality of life. Maddie is the best of the best!
Maddie is an excellent therapist. Great listener. She recommended exercises and reading as support. I'm very happy with her and the progress made. I highly recommend her.
So, I've been a patient of Maddie's for 2.5 years and I'm forever grateful for her care. It had been a while since I saw a therapist and there are always some nerves before talking with someone new. "Will we be a good match?" "Am I going to like them?" "Will they listen to me well? I knew all of those things were true about Maddie Immediately. What stands out to me about her care is her kindness; That is so genuine and whole. She will never shame you into change and always guide you with a safe and forgiving hand. She is VERY responsive, especially when I've needed to talk to her on short notice or have any questions. She goes the distance for you and your care. Therapy is not linear, it's an ever-evolving tool and Maddie truly makes space for it all with an abundance of kindness. I wish I could see her every day honestly. If you're nervous about therapy or talking to someone, go to Maddie. She is a soft place to land. Thank you Maddie.
Maddie was a wonderful therapist for me! It is my first time going through therapy so I was very nervous but she made me feel at ease- I will be continuing to work with her!
