Getting to know Madeline Flores

Hello, my name is Madeline Flores. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#139058) based in San Diego, CA, and I see clients throughout California via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I work with individuals and specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and relationship issues. My approach My approach depends on my client's needs. I operate from a client-centered perspective, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, trauma-focused, and dialectical behavior therapy while highlighting the client's strengths throughout treatment. These modalities provide the framework to support us within the session. My focus I have experience working with children, teens, adults, and families. I often see clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, divorce, and struggles with self-esteem. I help clients build skills, grow, and develop insight to improve functioning in their lives. My communication style My communication style changes depending on the client. I tell clients they are driving the car, and I’m a sitting passenger. I support your needs and provide a safe place to share. I use humor (when appropriate) to connect and build rapport. I value open, honest communication to ensure I am where you need me to be. My journey to mental healthcare I have always wanted to be in the helping profession. I find passion in this work because life is full of curveballs, and sometimes we just need a space for someone to listen, see us, share an experience, and heal from past wounds. My goals for you I like to know your expectations for therapy and what you need from me—whether that’s more space to share, structure, or both. We can work together to determine goals and a direction if you need it. My first session with you In our first session, you can expect to explore what brought you to therapy, your strengths, and your goals.
