Getting to know Madge Duwe

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Abilene, Texas, seeing clients via telehealth throughout the state. I work with individuals of all ages, from 12-year-olds to late adulthood, specializing in anxiety, stress, depression, and grief. I hold a Bachelor's degree and an MEd in Community Counseling from Texas Tech University. I am an eclectic counselor, tailoring sessions to each client's unique goals and needs. Some of the approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Since earning my LPC in 2009, I have enjoyed working with a wide range of clients. During the day, I serve as a school counselor for middle school children, and in the evenings, I primarily see adults. Life brings many challenges and heartaches, and I strive to walk alongside my clients, offering coping skills, a listening ear, and a supportive presence throughout their journey. My communication style is laid-back, kind, and genuine. I firmly believe in the potential for change and always see the best in people. Clients often tell me how comfortable they feel opening up to me, and I am grateful to be in a role where I can meet people where they are and encourage them in whatever changes they want to make. I have always connected well with people of all ages. Throughout my life, strangers and acquaintances alike have stopped me to talk, and I love being there for others as they navigate life's ups and downs. To make progress, we need to set goals. Some goals take longer to reach than others, and there is no set timetable for when they must be achieved. Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you.
