Mallory Marra, LCPC

Psychotherapist
MD
Hi there, I'm Mallory! My name is Mallory E. Marra, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a Master’s in Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, stress, and depression, using core modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, among others. My approach In my experiences and research, I find my clients oftentimes are best positioned to address their own challenges through a range of goal-oriented and person-centered approaches. This requires a collaborative client relationship whose foundation is trust, safety, and authenticity—a relationship that I’m professionally and interpersonally committed to. In our sessions, our dialogue will be led by your strengths, values, and attributes to help identify the therapeutic interventions that will illuminate, reconcile, and address problems. I find this is best done through mutually agreed priorities which allow for experimentation, risk-taking, greater self-awareness, and, ultimately, uncovering potential solutions. My focus My client focus is adults who may be facing major life events, questioning what brings them meaning and purpose, struggling with grief and loss, ambivalent about change, or experiencing low self-esteem or high self-criticism. Invariably, these conditions present as anxiety, depression, and stress. My communication style It’s important to me that you feel heard and understood. I want to create a space where you are comfortable sharing and providing feedback about what is helpful to you. I will actively incorporate your insights and feedback accordingly. I use many open-ended and clarifying inquiries to support you in exploring change. My journey to mental healthcare Previously, I was a licensed teacher and chose that career path because of a deep-seated desire to help people and meet their fundamental needs.
